2008 NEW ENGLAND GRAND PRIX SERIES SET
Posted: November 12, 2007, Waltham MA

The 2008 USATF-NE Grand Prix series will have five new events including several past championship races as the seven Road Race Championships composing the series for next year were selected Monday evening by close to 100 USATF-NE member voters at Brandeis University.

12 races submitted bids for next year's series, with two selections came down to a margin of 4 or fewer votes and three races were uncontested. The series breaks down to one race in any month, and covers three of the association's 4 states (no bids from Vermont races). That leaves plenty of time for track, mountains, and cross country. There were no runaway winners and the marathon was uncontested.

The 2008 schedule:

  • Mar 15 - New Bedford Half-Marathon, New Bedford MA
  • May 11 - Medical Center 6K, Nashua NH (wild card)
  • June 1 - Rhody 5K, Lincoln RI
  • July 29 - Newburyport 10 Mile, Newburyport MA
  • Aug 9 - Bridge of Flowers 10K, Shelburne Falls MA
  • Sept 6 - Ollie 5 Mile, South Boston MA
  • Oct 19 - Bay State Marathon, Lowell MA

Congratulations to those races, and thanks to those others who submitted bids: Westford 5K, Marine Corps 10K, NE XC Championships, Seagull 6, and the Breakers Marathon.

Final results of 2007 are posted on the GP Page
